Winter Night Shelter

Oxford Winter Night Shelter (OWNS)
St Matthews will be accommodating 10 people each Sunday night from 6th January to the end of March as part of the Oxford Winter NIght Shelter.  This is part of the scheme for 10 local churches to offer 20 beds each night to homeless people at the coldest time of year.  See for more details.

Your help in setting things up, volunteering and offering food or toiletries to the guests will be very welcome.  If you would like to volunteer to help one Sunday a month by welcoming guests, staying the night and helping with breakfast then you will need to go on an OWNS volunteer training session.  There are 2-hour sessions on 7, 14 and 17 November - look for the flier in Church or contact for more details.  We also need to raise money to buy equipment - £40 will buy a camp bed, £20 for a sleeping bag, £5 each for a pillow, pillowcase or hand towel.  Or please offer your spare pillows and blankets.  You can donate straight into the St Matthews bank account (details are in the newsletter) and put “night shelter” as the reference.  Please contact Jackie Wilderspin for more details.
