Adult groups

Under normal circumstances the following are running:

There are various interest, fellowship or social groups which meet on a regular basis. For example:

Home Groups meet at different locations around the city - some weekly, some fortnightly, some monthly - on different days of the week. They aim to provide friendship and support in a Christian context. Helen Skertchly coordinates these. (You can contact Helen either after church or, during the week, by asking at the church office.) For more details click here.

Coffee and Cake takes place on Thursdays from 10am until 12 noon upstairs in the Parish Centre.  It's a time for parents to relax and meet other parents.  This term we are reading a parenting and spirituality book alongside doing some reflection. There is a creche available.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Music group practice happens on some Thursday evenings in the church, plus before each service on a Sunday morning. Music group lead worship in a variety of styles on Sunday mornings and at other times. Singers and musicians are always welcome!

Men's curry nights happen occasionally, as do such things as football-watching evenings.

Women's prayer breakfasts happen several times per year, normally on a Saturday morning.

Prayer Meeting every Tuesday evening in the church at 6:45 to 7:30 pm

Silence at St Matthews - a group of us are meeting on Monday nights at 8.15pm in the vestry at St Matthews to share silent Christian meditation together. It's simple and totally informal, though it draws on an ancient Christian tradition, and anyone who's interested in giving it a go is very welcome. We have a chat, listen to some Christian music on CD, read a bible passage and some thoughts on Christian meditation and then have half-an-hour's silent prayer together.  If you're interested or have any queries please speak to Stephen Schneider or Mike Rayner.
