Over the past few months, the PCC has carried out a review of our future staffing needs and following prayerful discussion, the PCC has decided to appoint a ‘pioneer missioner’ working with younger adults (approximately 20s/30s age range) across the parish. The pioneer missioner will work with St Matthew’s and St Luke’s congregations and in the community to develop a programme of activities which enable us to share Jesus both directly and through invitations to explore and deepen faith – for instance through creating social opportunities and friendships and running relevant activities that show concern for people and social justice. We are now recruiting for a person who has a vision and passion to share faith in the community with this age group – you can see the advert on our website here or at Pioneer Missioner (younger adults) – click through from this page for details of how to apply. Please share this opportunity with anyone you know who may be interested.
Our review also considered whether to appoint a new Children and Families worker. Children's work continues to have a priority focus at St Matthew’s and St Luke’s, however, at present we have decided to continue the current arrangement of volunteer-led children’s groups on Sundays. Jenni and other staff members will support this arrangement and continue to lead Messy Church, BeSpace and assemblies at St Ebbe’s school. We are very grateful to the team of volunteers who organise and lead children's groups on Sunday mornings and over the next six months we will be reviewing, with volunteers and staff members, how these arrangements for meeting the varied needs for children’s and youth work are working. If you are interested in helping to run or lead a children’s group please contact Jenni via the church office.
