Our all age summer services begin on 27th July. We will be meeting for breakfast at 9.45am and there will be short service of Holy Communion at 11.15am for people who want to attend. Please contact the office if you can help with anything, particularly breakfast!
REFRESH PROJECT CONSULTATION
The Parish Centre is now 30 years old and is well used by many people in the community who enjoy parties, exercise groups, ballet classes and the Community Lunch, among other things. The aims of the Refresh Project are to upgrade the Parish Centre, improve the carbon footprint and make it suitable for the next 30 years of use. We would love to hear what you think and ideas you may have for the future use of the building. The work that eventually gets done will depend on the money we can raise, but at this stage we want to make sure that as many people as possible are involved in the discussions and understand the scope of what may be possible.
We're planning to open the church and set up a small quiet space at the back for anyone who comes to Community Lunch, who would like to light a candle, sit quietly, reflect or pray. This is simply an invitation with no pressure or expectation. This is a trial for a few months starting from July 17th in two sessions: 12.15-1.00pm and 1.00pm -1.45pm. Apart from a welcoming smile, and keeping an eye on things, you don't need to do anything else. So you'd be welcome to bring a book or any other peaceful activity! If anyone feels they could help with this, please contact Carolyn via the church office.

OIO are looking for Christians from local churches with a spare bed/s who can offer free bed and breakfast accommodation to team members from Sat 26th July-8th August. They are also open to house-sitting/cat-sitting arrangements if people are on holiday but are prepared to offer the use of their home. Team members would be out most days from about 9am-10pm so hosts would not need to entertain them/look after them in the day. If you could help, please contact Gail via the church office.
OHCT is running a number of different activities throughout the summer. Click here for online booking.
The annual Ride and Stride will take place on Saturday 13th September. Click here for details.
ALTERNATIVE WORKSPACE
Laura is runnng a weekly "Workspace" cafe on a Monday afternoon in the Parish Centre from 2pm-5:15pm. The idea is to provide an alternative workspace for students and those who work from home. There has been a positive response from the local community who seem interested in this idea!
In order to make this happen, we would need at least one volunteer to accompany Laura each week to help set up, serve drinks, wash up, and pack down . The more people we can have on the rota, the less frequently you'd need to serve! If you're interested and available to help, please could you contact Laura via the church office. Thank you in advance for considering
ST.MATTHEW'S EVENT WHATSAPP
If you would like to be part of a WhatsApp group that connects all the Events happening at St. Matthew's then please let Laura know via the church office. We'd love for this to involve everyone that is involved in organising activities at St. Matthew's so that we can continue to connect and grow the life of the church.
