WARDROBES AND RINGS: THROUGH THE LENTERN LANDS WITH THE INKLINGS - 30TH JANUARY 2026 AT 7.30PM
In aid of the Refresh Appeal.
Love Tolkien and C.S. Lewis? Want to find out more about them and the Inklings? Go through the wardrobe with us! Professor Simon Horobin and author Julia Golding will be in attendance to introduce their Lent study and for a Q&A session: Wardrobes and Rings.
Doors at 7pm | Start 7:30pm. Adults: £10.00. Concession (Students and 65+): £7.50
The Parish Centre is now 30 years old and is well used by many people in the community who enjoy parties, exercise groups, ballet classes and the Community Lunch, among other things. The aims of the Refresh Project are to upgrade the Parish Centre, improve the carbon footprint and make it suitable for the next 30 years of use. We would love to hear what you think and ideas you may have for the future use of the building. The work that eventually gets done will depend on the money we can raise, but at this stage we want to make sure that as many people as possible are involved in the discussions and understand the scope of what may be possible.
In the New Year Alex Muir will be leading a Saturday morning to get us thinking about the New Testament. Watch this space!
OXFORD WINTER NIGHT SHELTER
This important activity will be running on Sunday evenings from January to March in St Matthew's Parish Centre again. Volunteers are needed. Please contact Jackie if you can help.
VOLUNTEER NEEDED FOR COMMUNITY LUNCH
Our lunch is becoming increasingly popular with over 20 guests most weeks. We now need another volunteer to join our team just once a month (or more often if you have time!) from 12.30pm to 2.00pm latest. For more information or an informal chat contact Carolyn Lloyd Davies via the office
TREASURY TEAM - CAN YOU HELP?
The treasury team needs one or two people to help with this vital work. We are looking for help in 2 areas: Stewardship and Gift Aid. Training and support are available, so if you can give a few hours of time to this, it would be much appreciated. Contact David via the church office.
ALTERNATIVE WORKSPACE
Laura is runnng a weekly "Workspace" cafe on a Monday afternoon in the Parish Centre from 2pm-5:15pm. The idea is to provide an alternative workspace for students and those who work from home. There has been a positive response from the local community who seem interested in this idea!
In order to make this happen, we would need at least one volunteer to accompany Laura each week to help set up, serve drinks, wash up, and pack down . The more people we can have on the rota, the less frequently you'd need to serve! If you're interested and available to help, please could you contact Laura via the church office. Thank you in advance for considering
ST.MATTHEW'S EVENT WHATSAPP
If you would like to be part of a WhatsApp group that connects all the Events happening at St. Matthew's then please let Laura know via the church office. We'd love for this to involve everyone that is involved in organising activities at St. Matthew's so that we can continue to connect and grow the life of the church.
