REFRESH PROJECT CONSULTATION
The Parish Centre is now 30 years old and is well used by many people in the community who enjoy parties, exercise groups, ballet classes and the Community Lunch, among other things. The aims of the Refresh Project are to upgrade the Parish Centre, improve the carbon footprint and make it suitable for the next 30 years of use. We would love to hear what you think and ideas you may have for the future use of the building. The work that eventually gets done will depend on the money we can raise, but at this stage we want to make sure that as many people as possible are involved in the discussions and understand the scope of what may be possible.
ST MATTHEW'S DAY GARDEN PARTY - SUNDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER - 2.00PM
Preparations are underway for the annual Garden Party at St Matthew's. Put the date in your diary - Sunday 21st September from 2 - 4pm. It is a family event and a great opportunity to meet neighbours, bring friends, enjoy the garden games and savour a Cream Tea. There will also be a few fundraising stalls and a raffle for the Refresh Appeal. Messy Church, with fun activities for everyone, will also be running from 3pm.
There will be a planning meeting on August 28th at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre. Do come along with your ideas to make this an event for everyone.
We need donations of bottles for the Tombola (from ketchup to Champagne) and hand made craft items for sale. There will be a box at the back of church for collection.

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY
For Remembrance Sunday we are preparing to show part of our ’24 men of Grandpont’ project in which several members of church are involved. You can find a great article about it in the Oxford Mail here:
Another Saturday morning to think about some OT ideas and texts not covered in July. We'll also take some time to think about Jesus and the Old Testament as Advent begins. Saturday 6th December 10-1 in church.
A WALK IN THE NEW TESTAMENT
In the New Year Alex Muir will be leading a Saturday morning to get us thinking about the New Testament. Watch this space!
VOLUNTEER NEEDED FOR COMMUNITY LUNCH
Our lunch is becoming increasingly popular with over 20 guests most weeks. We now need another volunteer to join our team just once a month (or more often if you have time!) from 12.30pm to 2.00pm latest. For more information or an informal chat contact Carolyn Lloyd Davies via the office
CAN YOU HELP?
The treasury team needs one or two people to help with this vital work. We are looking for help in 2 areas: Stewardship and Gift Aid. Training and support are available, so if you can give a few hours of time to this, it would be much appreciated. Contact David via the church office.
PARISH AWAY DAY - 4TH OCTOBER
A Saturday at Cuddesdon to worship together and think about the parish vision and plan future priorities. All ages are included. We'll start at 10am. Please sign up at the back of church or you can email Jenni. Please make this a priority: as the saying goes, decisions are made by those who show up. We can organise lifts if needed.
ALTERNATIVE WORKSPACE
Laura is runnng a weekly "Workspace" cafe on a Monday afternoon in the Parish Centre from 2pm-5:15pm. The idea is to provide an alternative workspace for students and those who work from home. There has been a positive response from the local community who seem interested in this idea!
In order to make this happen, we would need at least one volunteer to accompany Laura each week to help set up, serve drinks, wash up, and pack down . The more people we can have on the rota, the less frequently you'd need to serve! If you're interested and available to help, please could you contact Laura via the church office. Thank you in advance for considering
ST.MATTHEW'S EVENT WHATSAPP
If you would like to be part of a WhatsApp group that connects all the Events happening at St. Matthew's then please let Laura know via the church office. We'd love for this to involve everyone that is involved in organising activities at St. Matthew's so that we can continue to connect and grow the life of the church.
